beautiful and impressive. really impressed by your effortless playing here.
@@mitchellrosenthal6305 thank you 😎
Great guitar video, as always. Great guitar skills. I know you studied at GIT, I went to GIT 95- 96. Great teachers Joe Diorio and Scott Henderson, Brett Garsed T.J.Helmerich, Sid Jacobs etc.
You are one of the top jazz teachers on the internet
@@SkwisgaarScampini thanks 😎
Could you recommand other patterns ? How much patterns should we start with ?
Sorry what do you mean? Other than the ones in the book. There are patterns in the book to last a lifetime haha. I think it's best to narrow it down at first and pick few ones that you really like and really get them under your fingers before moving on to more advanced patterns
I forced myself to stop collecting guitars. Now I collect guitar books instead.
Cold in there?
Bellissimo
thx for sharing such extraordinary beauty
What a beauty ❤❤❤
Come again. It was a great pleasure to lean from a master like you
Beautiful playing, Mikko!
👏👏
Stunning. Do you have sheet music for this?
Yes it's in The Bill Evans Guitar Book
Oh, so lovely...!
Fantastic rendition 👏
Just finished learning his arrangement of letter to evan and this was next on my list! Sounding great :)
Yes and that on is on my list
Beautiful work❤
Wow I haven't tried that one yet. Great rendition. I've lost the book in a recent move, need to dig it out!
Yes it's a good one to learn
Thank you for this beautiful peace today.
Awesome!
Nice, nice, nice work!
Very nice. Thanks.
Very nice. Reminds me of music from Time Remembered by John Mclaughlin, which is a tribute to Bill Evans.
Yes I need to go back to that album. Haven't listened to it in years
Awesome
This is really great stuff and very interesting playing, thank you very much!
I was not able to find this arrangement on Jason’s website, did you purchase this elsewhere?
Hard to remember, it's been six years. But I'm pretty sure I just found a chart online
Might have been from some guitar magazine if I'm not mistaken
@@Mikkokosmosif you can remember, please let me know
@@tony89718 I just search for it on Google and it comes up. It's still there
@@tony89718 I just checked the whole book called Images of Metheny Guitar Book is on Scribd
Does the book come with the CD examples?
Yes it comes with a DC but I have never used it
Very interesting. Quick question (as a piano player): doesn’t this concept clearly assemble the Ellington principle? Like everything „off“ the main triad in the melody can be harmonized with a dim7 chord? Looks familiar to me. Since the dim7 never changes in all four scales. Only the root triad plus its 6th is different, depending on major, minor, dominant or half diminished.
Come to the UK please 😎
GMC is a wonderful idea ... but in addition to the book, your explanation is indispensable
I am familiar with this because if Sinatra.
Really liked the treatment of various reharms, and loved the comment 'this makes you play completely different'... wish i could say the same 😂
2:14 of course theres also a root inversion G major possible from that group of 6 notes, 4:05 Worth noting that anything built on a 2nd and a 4th is an inversion of a Diatonic Quartal triad. "do both' is great advice. Yeah, Stella is a poor choice, too complex. Autumn leaves? Your modal choice also cool. thanks for an insightful review!
Thoughtful and sensitive performance. 🙏
No it's not.
Great video and material Mikko. This is the kind of path that I usually suggest to my students. And the fact that you have to learn everything to forget it… has been said many times, but it’s really that.
This is not a warmup book, but why not. Joseph Viola technique of the saxophone vol. 2 (chord studies) is a book about chords, arpegios and appogiatures with some etudes / examples in all keys.
I would like to purchase the pdf of this lesson. Can you tell me how?
Yes of course. You can join my Patreon and you get access to all pdf's
Are you looking at music or did you memorize it? Very nice!
I always memorize for performance videos
nod our heads to bebop heads it's time to give head to some bebop heads who is the head of bebop heads depr? i demand to speak with them.
Love all of them . Thanks .
Thanks Mikko, very insightful and informative.
Never heard of that Oliver Nelson album. I’ll have to check it out
If you get them right from Frank he'll even sign them for you
I made a video on my Channel about my desert island books and these two books are definitely in my library and have been using them for years they're amazing
Please consider reviewing Dave Mooney’s books, Personalizing Jazz Vocabulary and Into The Labyrinth. Dave is a jazz professor with North Texas University jazz guitar program.
From studying his teaching, I know that Ted always stressed the importance of *making music*, even (or especially) while practicing. This is a great example of making a potentially sterile exercise come to life musically.
Another great lesson Mikko!
Mikka - following this morning's session, I've spent the afternoon listening to Oliver Nelson's - The Blues and the Abstract Truth (1961). On track 2 - Hoe Down, my ears pricked up during Oliver Nelson's solo at 3:03 (ruclips.net/video/upF-faWpPGU/видео.html). He plays a theme that I recognised as the main melody of Bullet Train written by Ernie Watts and Lee Ritenour from Ritenour's album Friendship 2 (1979) - (ruclips.net/video/aIQ6cIM_REI/видео.html). A good example of taking a bebop phrase and creating a melodic theme.
Yup that's right. Lee Ritenour has also recorded Stolen Moments
